How judging works.

Scored on the four criteria above
01 · Review

Every demo is watched

Projects are shared out between the judges. Each judge watches their share, up to 1:30 per demo, and scores every one.

02 · Top picks

One pick per track

Each judge picks their best project in each track: Payments, Access to finance, and Fraud and security.

03 · Shortlist

Top 6 present live

The whole panel scores every judge’s picks. The top 6 teams present on stage.

04 · Winners

Four winners

One winner per track, plus one overall winner, chosen from the live presentations.

04 / FAQ

Good to know.

Who can take part?

Everyone. You do not need to be a student or study at LSE. Developers, designers, people who know finance and first-time builders are all welcome.

When and where is it?

Tuesday 13 October 2026, 6:00–9:30 pm in London. The venue address is available through registration on Luma.

Do I need a team or an idea?

No. Come on your own if you like. There will be time to meet people and form a team. Bring a problem you care about or start with a sponsor suggestion.

What tools can I use?

Any tools you like. Sponsors will provide tracks and suggestions, but you can choose how you solve the problem.

What do we submit?

Your track, a project name and short description, your team members with their LinkedIn profiles, and a Loom or YouTube demo of 1 minute 30 seconds or less. Submit through the submission portal. You get a private link to edit your entry until submissions close. Building with an AI agent? Tell it: “Read shiptonight.com/submit.md and follow it to submit this project.”

How is judging done?

Each judge watches and scores their share of the demos, then picks one project per track. The whole panel scores those picks and the top 6 teams present live. There is one winner per track and one overall winner.

Who owns what we build?

You and your team own the work you create. Taking part does not transfer ownership to the organisers or sponsors. Terms for any third-party tools or data you choose to use still apply.
